Though significant strides have been made, there’s still a mountain to climb when it comes to women’s representation in leadership.

There’s been some improvement in women’s representation in senior leadership roles, but that shouldn’t be an excuse to sit back and say ‘job done.’ Representation is not a box to check off, but a commitment to work on, at every stage of growth in the organisation. Acknowledging progress should not make us complacent but inspire us to press on. The glass ceiling is still a cold reality.

Women are still massively underrepresented in the top rungs of organisations. This is true of the legal world, both in law firms and corporate legal departments. As of 2023, only 10.4 per cent of Fortune 500 companies had women CEOs.* That the figure was a historic high should tell you that there’s a long way to go to redress the balance. 

A systematic way to address this gap is for organisations and individuals to invest in capacity building, leadership development, and helping women mentor networks. The good news is that there are expert, mission-driven initiatives that are accessible to organisations of all sizes. 

Introducing CruciBOLD by TalentNomics:

Vahura is a supporter of CruciBOLD — a Talentnomics India initiative that is designed to prepare women for senior leadership roles. CruciBOLD’s year-long learning programme includes interactive sessions with CXOs, one-on-one mentoring by global leaders, and the opportunity to build and engage with a solid peer group. 

The idea behind CruciBOLD is to build a robust pipeline of women leaders, support women in leadership positions and create more role models to inspire young women professionals. To do this, they invite companies to nominate high potential, mid-to-senior level women colleagues to join the programme. The overarching goal of the initiative is to ensure that more and more talented women professionals reach the CXO level.
